House of Gucci is a highly anticipated biographical crime movie directed by Ridley Scott and written by Roberto Bentivegna. It follows the true story of Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, who plotted to kill him. The movie is based on the book "The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed" by Sara Gay Forden.
The plot of the movie revolves around the rise and fall of the Gucci family empire, focusing on the tumultuous relationship between Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) and Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga). Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of the famous fashion designer Guccio Gucci, took over the company in the 1980s and catapulted it to new heights of success. However, he was ousted from the company by his own family members and eventually divorced Reggiani.
Reggiani was convicted in 1998 of hiring hitmen to kill her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci. The murder plot was executed in 1995 when Gucci was gunned down outside his office in Milan. She was sentenced to 29 years in prison, but her sentence was later reduced to 18 years. Reggiani was released from prison in 2016 and currently lives in Milan.
The star-studded cast of House of Gucci includes Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani, Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci, Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, and Salma Hayek as Pina Auriemma. The movie is set to release in the United States on November 24, 2021.
