The 1953 film Houdini was directed by George Marshall and starred Tony Curtis as the legendary magician and escape artist Harry Houdini and Janet Leigh as his wife Bess. The film follows Houdini's rise to fame as a performer and his intense dedication to perfecting his illusionary and escape acts.
Throughout the film, Houdini performs daring escapes such as freeing himself from a straightjacket while suspended from a crane over a city street, surviving being buried alive, and breaking out of a bank safe while underwater.
