Andi and Bruce have been bounced around from foster home to foster home since their parents' death. They have always been close and have relied on their dog, Friday, as their constant companion. When they are placed in a new foster home with a strict "no pets" policy, Andi and Bruce are devastated. They sneak Friday into the house, but it becomes clear that they cannot keep him there.
One day, while wandering the streets, Andi and Bruce stumble upon an abandoned hotel. They decide to explore and are amazed at what they find. The hotel is full of abandoned rooms, furniture, and even a functioning kitchen. They realize they could make a home for Friday there.
The siblings set to work cleaning up the hotel, and soon Friday is joined by other stray dogs. Andi and Bruce become local heroes, rescuing dogs and giving them a safe place to stay. They even start training the dogs to do tricks, hoping they can perform and raise money to care for the dogs.
But they know that they cannot keep this up forever. They risk being caught by the police or their foster parents. They need to find a way to keep the dogs safe and find them permanent homes. With the help of some local kids, they stage an elaborate plan to find homes for all the dogs and shut down the hotel. In the end, the dogs all find loving homes and Andi and Bruce learn a valuable lesson about love, responsibility, and the true meaning of family.
