Helene is a highly skilled anesthesiologist but her life spirals into chaos when she becomes addicted to prescription pills after the death of her boyfriend. She continues to work despite her addiction and her colleagues are oblivious to her situation. One day, she causes a car accident that leaves her stranded in a small town. She stumbles upon a hotel run by Gilles' mother and ends up staying there.
Gilles is a young man who has no ambition in life and spends most of his time lazing around the hotel. He becomes obsessed with Helene and pursues her relentlessly, despite her initial reluctance. Meanwhile, Bernard, a petty criminal, is also staying at the hotel and has a hold over Gilles.
As the three characters get closer, they become entangled in each other's lives. Helene struggles to manage her addiction while dealing with her feelings for Gilles. Gilles, on the other hand, is torn between his loyalty to Bernard and his feelings for Helene. Bernard's criminal activities begin to impact all of their lives and they must decide whether to stick together or go their separate ways.
