The movie Horse Girl revolves around Sarah, a socially awkward woman in her thirties who works at a craft store and spends her free time watching supernatural crime shows and caring for her horse, Willow. Sarah has a history of mental illness in her family and has struggled with it herself, visiting a therapist regularly and taking medication to keep her condition under control.
As Sarah's dreams become increasingly vivid and lucid, she starts to experience strange occurrences in her waking life, including missing time and waking up in different places without any memory of how she got there. She becomes convinced that she is experiencing alien abductions and starts to document her experiences in a journal.
Sarah's behavior becomes increasingly erratic as she becomes more consumed by the belief that she is being visited by aliens. Her relationships with her roommate, co-workers, and family begin to suffer as she becomes more isolated and paranoid.
The movie builds to a climax as Sarah's experiences become more intense and she spirals into a mental breakdown, culminating in a shocking and unexpected ending that leaves viewers questioning what is real and what is imagined.
