Hope Floats is a romantic drama film released in 1998, directed by Forest Whitaker. The lead casts include Sandra Bullock, Harry Connick Jr., and Gena Rowlands. Justin is still unmarried and runs a photography studio in Smithville. He offers Birdee a job at his studio, and she accepts it to make ends meet. Birdee gradually starts healing and finds love again, but she struggles to let go of her past and fears that she will hurt the people she loves, just as Bill and Connie hurt her. Moreover, Birdee has to choose between staying in Smithville or going back to her old life in Chicago, as she is offered a job there.
