In Honey 2, Maria Ramirez struggles to fit in with her new dance crew, the HDs, after being released from juvenile detention. She quickly proves her worth as a talented dancer and gains the respect of the crew's leader, Brandon. Together, they set their sights on competing in the TV dance competition "Dance Battle Zone" in order to win the grand prize of $100,000.
Maria also reconnects with her childhood friend, Carla, who is now a successful music producer. Carla gives Maria the opportunity to choreograph a music video for a popular singer, which Maria sees as a chance to prove herself as a leader and overcome the mistakes of her past.
However, tensions rise within the HDs as secrets are revealed and rival dance crews try to sabotage their chances in the competition. Maria must not only prove herself as a dancer and choreographer, but also as a peacemaker and loyal friend.
Throughout the film, there are nods to the original Honey movie and its protagonist, Honey Daniels, including a cameo from the actress who played her, Jessica Alba. The film features high-energy dance sequences and a soundtrack filled with popular songs from artists such as Flo Rida and Pitbull.
