Honey is a hardworking and talented dancer who has a passion for hip hop. She dreams of making it big as a choreographer but is currently teaching dance classes at a community center in Harlem. She hopes to inspire her students to follow their dreams and stay off the streets.
One day, Honey is discovered by a music video director named Michael Ellis, who offers her a spot in his latest project. She jumps at the opportunity, and soon finds herself working alongside some of the top performers in the industry. Honey's talent and hard work attracts the attention of a record label executive, who offers her a contract.
However, Honey soon learns that the industry can be cutthroat and difficult to navigate. Ellis begins to take advantage of Honey, demanding sexual favors in exchange for promotions and opportunities. Honey must make a difficult decision: compromise her morals for fame or stay true to herself and her principles.
As Honey struggles with this decision, she also faces challenges in her personal life. Her best friend Gina (Joy Bryant) is jealous of her success, while Honey's boyfriend Chaz (Mekhi Phifer) worries that she is becoming too obsessed with her career.
