Homegrown is a 1998 crime-comedy directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal. The film revolves around three marijuana harvesters, Jack, Carter, and Harlan, who work for Malcolm, a wealthy businessman who owns the farm. When they discover that Malcolm has been found dead, the trio knows that they could be next and decide to flee the farm, taking with them a huge stash of marijuana.

Worried that the police will be hot on their trail, the three men seek refuge in a nearby town, where they meet Lucy, a woman who works for a group of drug dealers. After realizing that the marijuana they have can make them rich, they hatch a plan to sell it to Lucy's associates. However, their plans are complicated by the fact that they are being hunted by a corrupt local sheriff, who wants to seize the drugs for himself.

As the trio tries to navigate their way through the dangerous world of drug dealing, they begin to turn on each other, becoming increasingly paranoid and distrustful. With tensions rising, they must decide whether to stick together or go their separate ways as they attempt to outsmart the police and drug dealers who are after them.

Featuring a star-studded cast, including Billy Bob Thornton, Hank Azaria, Ryan Phillippe, and Kelly Lynch, Homegrown is a darkly humorous crime caper that explores the high-stakes world of drug dealing and the lengths people will go to protect their interests.
