The movie centers around Rachel, a once-successful lawyer who has hit rock bottom. She spends her days drinking alone and browsing social media where she sees her old college friend, Emily, living the dream life she always wanted. Emily is a successful lawyer with a loving husband and a beautiful home, which makes Rachel incredibly jealous.
Determined to have what Emily has, Rachel concocts a plan to steal her friend's life. She starts by befriending Emily and her husband, gaining their trust and gathering information about their lives. Rachel slowly begins to insert herself into Emily's life, becoming her confidante and even offering to help with legal cases.
As Rachel becomes more entwined in Emily's life, she starts to reveal her true motives. She begins to sabotage Emily's work, relationships, and even her marriage. Rachel's actions become increasingly dangerous and destructive, and Emily soon realizes that her friend is not who she thought she was.
The movie escalates into a dark and suspenseful thriller as Emily fights to protect her life and her marriage from Rachel's obsessive and dangerous behavior. In the end, Rachel's jealousy and desire for success ultimately lead to her downfall.
