Dorian (Luke Wilson) and Angus (Jake Busey) are stepbrothers who work as helicopter pilots in their father's potato factory. They are both resentful of their womanizing stepfather, who they blame for the death of their mother. When they learn that their stepfather has been cheating on their mother with a local waitress named Sally (Drew Barrymore), they decide to take matters into their own hands and confront him.
However, their plan goes awry when their stepfather dies from a heart attack during the chase. To cover their tracks, Dorian decides to investigate Sally and find out what she knows about their stepfather's affairs. He starts to follow her around, and even begins to fall in love with her.
Meanwhile, their mother (Catherine O'Hara) finds out about Sally, and becomes determined to have her killed. Dorian tries to protect Sally from his mother's wrath, but he soon discovers that Sally is pregnant, and he may be the father. This realization complicates things further, especially when Sally expresses doubts about whether she wants to have Dorian as the father of her child and also his brother.
As the plot thickens, Dorian and Sally's relationship becomes increasingly complex, and the two struggle to navigate the complicated dynamics of their respective families. Home Fries is a quirky romantic comedy that explores themes of love, family, and forgiveness, while still providing plenty of laughs and unexpected twists.
