Finn is not happy about the move to Maine, and things only get worse when he sees their new house – an old, dilapidated mansion that looks like it hasn't been lived in for years. His older sister, Alexis, is quick to dismiss Finn's concerns, but he can't shake the feeling that something is very wrong with their new home.
While their parents are away in town for the day, Finn and Alexis settle in to explore their new surroundings. Finn is determined to prove that there is a ghost in the house, and sets up all kinds of traps and tricks to catch the paranormal activity on camera.
However, when a group of thieves break in to rob the empty house, Finn's traps work a little too well. The thieves get caught in a series of booby-traps and now they're trapped in the house, unable to leave and ransack the place.
As Finn and Alexis try to outsmart the crooks with their wits, humor, and even some makeshift traps, the burglars realize that they have been defeated by something beyond the supernatural – the sheer cunning of two kids. In the end, Finn and Alexis manage to save their family's new home and earn the respect they dreamed of from their older siblings.
