The talentless teen, named Katelyn, is determined to make it onto "The Voice" and will stop at nothing to achieve her dream. She auditions for the show multiple times, but is continuously rejected due to her lack of singing ability. Despite this, Katelyn refuses to give up and continues to pursue her dream, much to the frustration of her father, Dave.
Dave is a hardworking municipal worker who is passionate about his job and his community. However, when a video of his impassioned rants at City Hall goes viral, he becomes an unexpected internet sensation. Dave's rants, which are a mix of frustration with local government and personal anecdotes, strike a chord with viewers and he quickly gains a following.
As Dave's popularity grows, Katelyn sees an opportunity to piggyback off of her father's newfound fame. She convinces Dave to help her create a viral video of her own, hoping that it will catch the attention of "The Voice" producers. However, their plan backfires when Katelyn's lack of talent is exposed to the world, leading to public ridicule and embarrassment.
Through these trials and tribulations, Dave and Katelyn must come to terms with their own desires and insecurities, ultimately learning that true success comes from being true to oneself. The movie "Hits" explores themes of ambition, family dynamics, and the fleeting nature of internet fame.
