Hit-and-Run Squad is a 2019 South Korean action thriller film. The movie is directed by Han Jun-hee and stars Gong Hyo-jin as detective Eun Si-yeon and Ryu Jun-yeol as rookie police officer Seo Min-jae.
Si-yeon is a highly skilled detective who always follows the rules. However, when she arrests a renowned lawyer with political ties, she is demoted to the Hit-and-Run Squad. Meanwhile, Min-jae is a reckless driver who becomes the squad's newest member due to his exceptional driving skills.
The Hit-and-Run Squad is responsible for solving hit-and-run accidents and catching the drivers responsible for them. The team includes veteran detective oh Soo-kyung (Jeon Hye-jin) and traffic investigator Jung Jae-chul (Yum Jung-ah). Si-yeon and Min-jae are initially at odds due to their different approaches to police work. However, they soon realize that they can benefit from each other's skills.
The story's main antagonist is Jae-chul, a wealthy businessman and speed maniac. Si-yeon and Min-jae suspect him of causing a hit-and-run accident that leaves a young girl in a coma. The two police officers team up to catch him, but their investigations lead them to a web of corruption and cover-ups involving some of Korea's most powerful people.
The movie is filled with adrenaline-pumping car chases, intense action scenes, and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The chemistry between Gong Hyo-jin and Ryu Jun-yeol is also a highlight of the movie, making their partnership as Si-yeon and Min-jae an enjoyable watch.
