Hipnos

Horror,Thriller  Spain

Hipnos is a Spanish psychological thriller released in 2004. Directed by David Carreras, the movie explores the mysterious and haunting world of hypnotherapy. The plot revolves around Dr Sánchez Blanch, a psychiatrist who runs a psychiatric hospital, where he specializes in using hypnosis to treat his patients, who suffer from severe emotional trauma and psychological disorders.

The story takes a sinister turn when a new patient, Gabriel, is admitted to the hospital. Gabriel suffers from a rare and dangerous condition known as dissociative identity disorder, where he has multiple personalities that take over his body at different times. Dr Sánchez Blanch sees Gabriel as a perfect subject for his hypnosis experiments, and he begins to hypnotize him to explore his alternate personalities.

As the sessions progress, Gabriel begins to experience disturbing visions and hallucinations, and he becomes convinced that Dr Sánchez Blanch is using his powers to manipulate and control him. The doctor's methods come under scrutiny, and his patients and colleagues begin to question his equipment and techniques. Meanwhile, Gabriel falls deeper into his delusions, and his grip on reality becomes increasingly tenuous.

The movie is a taut psychological thriller that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. The use of hypnosis as a tool for control and manipulation adds an eerie and unsettling atmosphere to the film, and the performances by the lead actors, Leonardo Sbaraglia and Eusebio Poncela, are exceptional. Hipnos is a masterful exploration of the fragility of the human mind and the dangers of unchecked power.
