Highwaymen is a 2004 thriller directed by Robert Harmon and stars Jim Caviezel as James Cray, a man who is consumed by the need for vengeance after his wife is killed by a hit-and-run driver named Fargo. Fargo, who is played by Colm Feore, is known to have killed several other women in the same manner, leaving James and the police with few leads.
After serving time in prison for nearly killing Fargo in a fit of rage, James is released and resumes his search for the killer. He has come to believe that the car Fargo was driving at the time of the accident, a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado, is a key to catching him. Fargo has modified the car to make it a rolling death trap, with a series of booby traps designed to kill anyone who gets too close.
As James travels across the country in search of the car, he meets a state patrolwoman named Hesther (Rhona Mitra) who agrees to help him find Fargo. They also encounter a mysterious singer named Molly (Franka Potente) who seems to have a connection to Fargo. James and Molly are drawn to each other, but James remains focused on his mission of revenge.
As they get closer to catching Fargo, James and Hesther realize that they are in over their heads. Fargo is a cunning and ruthless killer, and his car is a deadly weapon. The final showdown between James and Fargo takes place on a deserted stretch of highway, and the outcome is anything but certain.
