Highway is a 2014 Indian road drama film directed by Imtiaz Ali, starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda in lead roles. The story revolves around Veera Tripathi (Alia Bhatt), a young woman who is about to get married. On the eve of her wedding, she is kidnapped by Mahabir Bhati (Randeep Hooda) and his gang for ransom.

As they travel across different parts of North India, Veera develops an unexpected bond with Mahabir. She begins to see a different side of him, beyond his rough exterior and criminal activities. As they spend more time together, Veera starts to open up to Mahabir and shares personal details about her life, including the trauma of being sexually abused by her uncle when she was a child.

Veera finds solace in Mahabir's non-judgmental attitude and his ability to listen. As they continue their journey, they encounter various challenges, including police chases, harsh weather conditions, and personal conflicts. Despite these obstacles, the bond between Veera and Mahabir only grows stronger.

Towards the end, it is revealed that Mahabir and his gang had kidnapped Veera not just for ransom, but also for revenge. Mahabir's sister had been raped and murdered by Veera's uncle, and he saw this as his chance to avenge her death. However, as he got to know Veera better, he realized that she was not like her uncle and was innocent in the whole ordeal.

In the final scene, Veera is reunited with her family, but she cannot stop thinking about Mahabir. She writes a letter to him, expressing her gratitude for their time together and wishing him well in life. The film ends with Veera looking out the window of her home, as a truck passes by, contemplating the memories of her journey with Mahabir.
