High School U.S.A. is a made-for-TV movie from 1983 directed by Rod Amateau. The film follows J.J. Manners (played by Michael J. Fox), a high school student who falls for the popular cheerleader Beth Franklin (played by Nancy McKeon) who is currently dating a member of a rival clique, Beau Middleton (played by Anthony Edwards). J.J. and his nerdy friends are constantly bullied by Beau and his friends, but J.J. refuses to give up on winning Beth's heart.

As the school year progresses, J.J. runs for class president against Beau, who is also running. The two engage in a series of pranks and schemes to try and gain an advantage over each other. In the end, J.J. wins the election and gains the respect of his peers.

However, the film's climax is a race between J.J and Beau to determine who will win Beth's heart. The two race in cars through the streets of their town, with J.J. ultimately winning and ending up with Beth.

The film also features a cast of familiar faces, including Todd Bridges, Dana Plato, and Bob Denver. High School U.S.A. is a lighthearted comedy that plays on themes of youthful rebellion and teenage romance.
