Hidden Man is directed by Jiang Wen and set during the Sino-Japanese War in 1937. It follows a Chinese businessman named Xu Tian (played by Eddie Peng) who returns to Beijing after spending several years studying martial arts in Japan. Along with his martial arts skills, Xu Tian also possesses a photographic memory.
Upon his return, Xu Tian becomes embroiled in a dangerous world of espionage and political intrigue as various factions compete for power in a rapidly changing China. He is pursued by both the Japanese army and Chinese secret agents, and he must use all his skills to stay one step ahead of his enemies.
The film also features a love triangle between Xu Tian, his childhood sweetheart (played by Zhou Yun) and a mysterious woman (played by Liao Fan) who may be working for the Japanese. The visuals of the film are stunning and are complemented by a pulsing score by composer Nathan Wang.
