Frank Hopkins is a Pony Express courier and veteran of the Indian Wars, who is haunted by the memories of the massacre at Wounded Knee. He and his horse, Hidalgo, are invited to compete in the "Ocean of Fire", a 3,000-mile race across the Arabian desert, organized by Prince Bin Al Reeh.
During the race, Frank and Hidalgo face challenges including sandstorms, tribal attacks, and treacherous terrain. Along the way, they form a bond with Sheikh Riyadh, a Bedouin warrior who becomes their ally and guide through the desert.
As they race towards the finish line, Frank and Hidalgo must overcome their own personal demons and prove themselves against fierce competitors, including wealthy sheikhs and ruthless horse breeders. Along the way, they encounter betrayal, sabotage, and unexpected dangers that test their courage and determination.
Ultimately, Frank and Hidalgo must rely on their strength, skill, and the deep connection they share to survive the perilous journey and emerge victorious in the race of a lifetime.
