Liam Case, played by Cuba Gooding Jr., is a hardworking garbage man who lives a mundane life. He is in love with a local diner waitress, but she is dating a police officer named Swain. In an effort to impress her, Liam decides to plan a robbery at the bank where Swain works as a security guard.
Liam recruits a group of unlikely allies, including a wheelchair-bound man named Skinner, to carry out the heist. However, Liam's plan begins to unravel when his accomplices reveal their true motives, and the situation quickly turns violent.
As the heist spirals out of control, Liam makes a split-second decision to save innocent lives and becomes a hero in the eyes of the local community. He also catches the attention of Detective Dupree, who begins to suspect Liam's involvement in the robbery.
