Hells Angels on Wheels is a 1967 American biker film directed by Richard Rush. The film stars Jack Nicholson, Adam Roarke, Sabrina Scharf and Jana Taylor. The story revolves around Poet (Jack Nicholson), a gas station attendant who becomes fascinated with a group of rough bikers, the Hells Angels. He eventually joins the gang, and through his association with them, he gets drawn into their violent lifestyle.
The film begins with Poet working at a gas station when a group of Hells Angels comes in. They are rough, tough and without a doubt, the baddest bikers around. Poet becomes enamored with the group and even offers to fix their bikes for free. The gang eventually accepts him as one of their own, and he's thrilled to be part of their world.
However, he soon learns that the Angels are not the friendly and welcoming group of people he initially thought they were. They are violent, cruel and do not shy away from using murder as a means of solving their problems. Poet is shocked and disheartened by this discovery, but he's too deep into the group to leave.
Things take a turn for the worse when the Angels' leader, Buddy (Adam Roarke), takes his girlfriend, Jilly (Sabrina Scharf), on a ride with him. Poet tags along, and he and Jilly eventually fall for each other. Buddy becomes jealous and threatens Poet's life, leading to a violent confrontation between the two.
The film ends with Poet riding off on his bike, leaving the Angels behind and returning to a world where murder isn't an everyday occurrence. The movie is a powerful exploration of the violence and danger associated with biker gangs, and how even the most well-meaning person can become caught up in their world.
