Heaven's Prisoners is a 1996 crime drama film directed by Phil Joanou and based on the novel of the same name by James Lee Burke. The movie stars Alec Baldwin as Dave Robicheaux, Kelly Lynch as his wife Annie, and Eric Roberts as Bubba Rocque, a shady figure from Dave's past.

The story begins when Dave and Annie witness a plane crash in the bayou. After rescuing a young girl from the wreckage, they discover that the crash was intentional and that it may be linked to a drug trafficking operation. Dave's old friend and fellow cop, Dautrieve (played by Teri Hatcher), warns him to stay out of it, but Dave can't resist getting involved.

As he digs deeper into the case, Dave is drawn back into his former life as a detective, and the violence and corruption that comes with it. He discovers that Bubba Rocque is behind the drug operation, and that he is also responsible for the murder of a young girl who was close to Dave. When Bubba threatens Dave's family, he is forced to take action to protect them and bring down the drug operation once and for all.

The film received mixed reviews upon its release, with some critics praising Baldwin's performance while others criticized the plot and pacing. Despite its flaws, Heaven's Prisoners is a solid crime drama with a strong sense of atmosphere and some intense action scenes.
