Heartbeat is a suspenseful thriller movie directed by Michael Miller and released in 1993. The movie tells the story of a young and ambitious reporter, Rachel Myer (played by Susannah York), who works for a Chicago newspaper.

Rachel gets a lead on a story about a corrupt businessman named Philip Hartman (played by Christopher Plummer) who is involved in illegal activities, including embezzlement and murder. Rachel's investigation leads her to a series of shocking discoveries which she publishes in the newspaper, claiming that Hartman is responsible for the murders of several people who were trying to expose his wrongdoings.

However, Rachel soon realizes that her story has put her in danger as she begins to receive threats and becomes the target of several attempts on her life. She seeks help from the police, but they don't believe her claims and accuse her of fabricating the story to advance her career.

Rachel then turns to Hartman's son, Jack (played by John Shea), who is also a journalist, and together they try to prove Rachel's claims and expose Hartman's crimes. As the investigation progresses, Rachel and Jack uncover a web of corruption and conspiracy that goes deeper than they ever imagined.
