Hawk the Slayer is a 1980 British-American fantasy film directed by Terry Marcel. The film follows the story of Hawk, a skilled warrior and the only son of the ruler of a peaceful land, who is betrayed by his own brother Voltan, a cruel and power-hungry warlord. In the opening scene of the movie, we see Voltan attack a peaceful monastery, where Hawk's father seeks refuge, killing him and his followers. Hawk's bride is also killed in the same attack.
Hawk, who had been banished from the kingdom by his father, returns after learning of his family's death. He is accompanied by a group of unusual warriors who agree to help him in his quest for revenge against Voltan. The group comprises of Gort, a giant with superhuman strength; Baldwin, a brave dwarf with a talent for explosives; Crow, a one-armed man with a machine-crossbow, and Ranulf, an elf with exceptional archery abilities.
Hawk and his team set out on a dangerous journey to confront Voltan at his stronghold, which is guarded by an army of mercenaries and skilled fighters loyal to him. Along the way, they come across various obstacles, including a band of thieves who try to ambush them, a powerful sorceress who tries to seduce Hawk, and Voltan's henchmen who try to capture them.
The climax of the movie takes place at Voltan's fortress, where Hawk and his comrades engage in a fierce battle with Voltan and his army. In the final showdown, Hawk uses his "mind-sword," a weapon that responds to his thoughts, to defeat Voltan and free the land from his tyranny.
