The retired radio host is named Ralph, and he has been struggling financially since retirement. He learns that his former employer, who he still holds a grudge against for firing him, is having a 50th-anniversary party for the radio station. Ralph is determined to attend the party not only to confront his former boss but also to see if his former co-host and love interest, Karen, will be there.
To make some extra money for the trip, Ralph takes on a job as a grocery bagger at a local supermarket. He becomes friends with the other employees, including the kind-hearted cashier, Maria, who encourages him to follow his heart and reunite with Karen.
Throughout the movie, Ralph reminisces about his glory days on the radio and struggles with his current financial and personal situation. He eventually works up the courage to attend the anniversary party, where he finally confronts his former boss and reunites with Karen.
