Larry Abbot, played by Gene Wilder, is a popular radio personality who hosts the horror show "Manhattan Mystery Theater". He falls in love with Vickie Pearle, played by Gilda Radner, and decides to marry her at the castle where he grew up in. Upon reaching the castle, they are greeted by Larry's eccentric family members, with whom Vickie tries her best to connect.
Larry's uncle, played by Dom DeLuise, believes that Larry's tendency to panic during situations needs to be cured. He tries to perform a shock therapy on Larry with the help of the castle ghosts. However, things don't go as planned, and Larry's panic attacks become even worse.
