Emily returns home for the Christmas holidays, excited to spend time with her parents. However, to her dismay, she finds out that her parents are leaving on a trip of their own and won't be back until after the holidays. Left to spend Christmas alone in her parents' house, Emily is initially disappointed but decides to make the most of her time.
As she tries to relax and unwind, she is approached by the neighborhood's HOA with an invitation to participate in their many Christmas festivities. Emily is initially hesitant to join in but is eventually won over by the festive spirit of the neighborhood.
With the help of her new neighbors, Emily decorates her parents' house with Christmas decorations and participates in various Christmas activities, including caroling, tree lighting, and a Christmas Eve party.
Along the way, Emily discovers the true meaning of Christmas and learns to appreciate the importance of community, family, and love. As the holidays come to a close and Emily's parents return home, she realizes that her unexpected Christmas in her childhood home was exactly what she needed to rediscover the joy of the season.
