The Henderson family is made up of dad George, mom Nancy, son Ernie, and daughter Sarah. They are a typical suburban family who enjoy their annual hunting trip to the forest. On their way back, they accidentally hit a creature with their car, believing it to be a man at first. They quickly realize it's a Bigfoot, which they assume is dead, but quickly discover is alive and well.
Harry, as they name him, is quickly accepted into the Henderson home, with George and Ernie taking a particular liking to their new furry friend. However, they soon realize that Harry can't stay hidden forever, and they must decide whether to keep him a secret or turn him over to scientists for study.
As the family struggles with this decision, they also face opposition from a hunter named Jacques, who is determined to capture Harry and sell him to the highest bidder. In the end, the Henderson family decides to protect Harry and release him back into the wild, accepting him as a fellow creature deserving of respect and protection.
The film is a heartwarming tale about the acceptance of differences and the importance of protecting endangered species.
