Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is a 2013 action fantasy film directed by Tommy Wirkola and starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the titular characters. The movie serves as a continuation of the classic fairy tale, picking up fifteen years after Hansel and Gretel’s traumatic experience in the gingerbread house of the wicked witch.
As a result of their traumatic experience, Hansel and Gretel have grown up to become skilled hunters, using their unique set of skills to track down and kill witches who threaten innocent people. However, their latest mission leads them to a small town where they discover something far more dangerous and sinister at work.
It turns out that the town is under the control of an evil sorceress named Muriel, who has been planning a massive ritual sacrifice that will give her and her coven of witches immense power. Hansel and Gretel are soon caught up in the deadly game of cat and mouse with Muriel and her minions, fighting to stay alive and stop the evil witches from carrying out their plan.
Along the way, the siblings encounter a number of allies, including a troll named Edward and a local witch named Mina. Despite the odds stacked against them, Hansel and Gretel are determined to prevail and put an end to the witches’ reign of terror once and for all.
