Handle with Care: Jimmy Akingbola is a documentary that explores Akingbola's own experiences growing up in the care system in England. He shares stories of his turbulent childhood and how he was bounced around from different foster homes and children's homes, often feeling lost and forgotten.
Akingbola also speaks to other individuals who have grown up in the care system, including a young man who became homeless after leaving care and a woman who was placed in over 40 different homes throughout her childhood.
The documentary sheds light on the challenges faced by children in the care system, including high rates of mental health problems, low educational attainment, and difficulties in finding stable housing and employment.
