on the plot.
The movie takes place six years after the events of Halloween II, with Michael Myers (George P. Wilbur) still recovering from the burns he sustained in the previous movie. He's been in a coma at a maximum-security prison, but when he learns that he has a surviving niece named Jamie (Danielle Harris), he wakes up and escapes.
On Halloween night, Michael makes his way back to Haddonfield, Illinois, and begins his killing spree once again. Meanwhile, Jamie is living with a foster family in Haddonfield and keeps having visions of Michael coming to get her. She also starts displaying some of Michael's violent tendencies, which leads to her getting into trouble at school.
Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) returns once again to try and stop Michael. He teams up with Sheriff Meeker (Beau Starr) and a group of police officers to track Michael down. Jamie becomes Michael's primary target, and she's eventually captured by him and taken to an old abandoned farmhouse outside of town.
Loomis and Meeker must race against time to save Jamie and stop Michael once and for all. In the end, Jamie is revealed to be Michael's successor, as Michael was trying to pass on his evil legacy to her. The movie ends with Jamie killing her foster mother, implying that the cycle of violence will continue.
