The main character, Sascha Petrosevitch (played by Steven Seagal), is a former criminal turned undercover FBI agent. He is tasked with infiltrating the newly-built Alcatraz "Death House," which is operated by a corrupt warden and houses some of the most dangerous criminals in the country.
While inside, Sascha befriends a fellow inmate named Nick Frazier (played by Ja Rule), who is on death row for stealing a huge amount of gold. Nick has hidden the gold somewhere within the prison, and Sascha becomes determined to find it and use it as leverage to escape the prison and bring down the corrupt officials running it.
As Sascha gets closer to locating the gold, he discovers that there is more to the situation than meets the eye. The corrupt officials are actually working with a group of terrorists who plan to hijack a transport plane and rescue a high-profile inmate. Sascha must team up with Nick and a group of other inmates to stop the terrorists and save the day.
Overall, Half Past Dead is an action-packed thriller with plenty of fight scenes and explosive moments. It also explores themes of loyalty, redemption, and the lengths people will go to in order to get justice.
