Upon arriving in New York, Claude meets a charismatic hippie named George Berger, who introduces him to a group of free-spirited individuals. The group rejects traditional social norms and embraces their own unique way of life. They share their love for music, dancing, and smoking pot. Claude quickly becomes enamored with their lifestyle and their beliefs, including their opposition to the Vietnam War.

However, despite his newfound love for the counterculture, Claude still feels a sense of duty to his country and ultimately decides to report for duty. He is sent to boot camp, where he begins to question the values he has grown up with. Throughout his time in the military, Claude grapples with his beliefs and is forced to confront the reality of war.

Meanwhile, the hippie group protests against the war and works to spread their message of peace and love. They struggle to reconcile their own beliefs with the violence and destruction that surrounds them, ultimately leading to a tragic ending that highlights the harsh realities of war and the impact it has on individuals and society as a whole.

Hair was directed by Milos Forman and starred John Savage, Treat Williams, and Beverly D'Angelo. The music was composed by Galt MacDermot, with lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado. It was both a critical and commercial success, winning a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and earning two Academy Award nominations.
