Gypsy 83 is a coming-of-age film that follows two misfits, Gypsy Vale (Sara Rue) and Clive Webb (Kett Turton), as they travel to New York City to attend The Night of 1,000 Stevies, a festival celebrating the music and style of Stevie Nicks.
Gypsy and Clive are outsiders in their small town, with Gypsy being overweight and Clive being openly gay. They both have troubled pasts, with Gypsy's mother having committed suicide and Clive being bullied for his sexuality.
As they embark on their journey to New York, they encounter various obstacles and challenges, such as car troubles and confrontations with homophobic locals. Along the way, they also meet a group of misfits who share their love for Stevie Nicks and accept them for who they are.
Through their experiences, Gypsy and Clive learn to embrace their strengths and overcome their insecurities. Gypsy learns to love herself and her body, while Clive gains confidence in his identity and sexuality.
