The movie Guru is a biographical drama film directed by Mani Ratnam and released in 2007. It stars Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role as Gurukant Desai, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Sujatha, and R. Madhavan as a journalist who investigates Gurukant's business practices.

The film begins with the young Gurukant Desai (played by Darsheel Safary) dreaming of being successful and rich. He leaves his village and arrives in Istanbul, Turkey, where he starts working in a spice factory. There, he learns about business and trade and starts dreaming of making it big in his own country.

After returning to India, Gurukant marries Sujatha, who is the daughter of a wealthy businessman. He uses her dowry to start his own textile business and faces multiple challenges while trying to establish it. He struggles to get loans from banks and also faces challenges from established businessmen in the industry who see him as a threat.

Despite these obstacles, Gurukant manages to establish himself as a successful businessman and expands his business empire to other industries. However, his success is short-lived as he faces a huge setback when it is revealed that he used unethical means to rise in the business circuit.

A journalist named Shyam Saxena (played by R. Madhavan) investigates Gurukant's business practices and exposes his wrongdoings to the public. He is accused of tax evasion, bribery, and other corrupt practices. Gurukant is arrested and sent to jail, and his business empire crumbles.

The film ends with Gurukant's son, who was born while he was in jail, visiting his father's grave and being inspired by his father's entrepreneurial spirit. The movie portrays Gurukant as a flawed but ambitious character who is willing to do anything to achieve his dreams. It also highlights the moral dilemmas faced by entrepreneurs and the corrupt practices prevalent in the Indian business world.
