Anita Minteer is a teenage girl living in California with her mother and her mother's abusive boyfriend, Rooney. Anita is often ignored by her mother and ostracized by her classmates, leaving her feeling alone and vulnerable.
In school, Anita becomes involved in a pen-pal project where she corresponds with a man named Howard who is serving time in prison for armed robbery. As they continue to write to each other, Anita forms a strong bond with Howard and becomes determined to help him get parole.
After Howard is released, Anita and Howard begin a relationship, but their happiness is short-lived when Rooney rapes Anita. In retaliation, Anita shoots and kills Rooney and she and Howard go on the run.
As they travel together, Howard and Anita encounter numerous obstacles, including Howard's former accomplices who are seeking revenge and his parole officer who is determined to bring him back to prison. Despite these challenges, Anita remains fiercely loyal to Howard and continues to fight for their survival.
In the end, Howard sacrifices himself to protect Anita, and she is able to escape and start a new life for herself. Guncrazy is a tense and gritty drama that explores themes of love, violence, and survival in an unforgiving world.
