Guardians of the Galaxy is a 2014 Marvel superhero film directed by James Gunn. The movie centers around Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, who was abducted from Earth as a child and has spent his adulthood traversing the galaxy as a space outlaw and thief.
The film opens with Quill on a mission to retrieve an orb that Ronan the Accuser, a powerful alien warlord, desires. Quill soon finds himself the target of a manhunt after stealing the orb and is eventually apprehended by the Nova Corps, an intergalactic police force.
While in prison, Quill meets a group of misfit aliens: Gamora, a trained assassin and also the adopted daughter of Ronan; Drax the Destroyer, a vengeful warrior seeking revenge against Ronan; Rocket, a genetically enhanced raccoon; and Groot, a humanoid tree. The group bands together to try to keep the orb out of Ronan's hands and prevent him from using its power to destroy planets.
Throughout the film, they encounter various challenges and battles, including skirmishes with Ronan's forces and facing off against the Collector, an eccentric alien who is also interested in the orb. Eventually, the group learns that the orb contains an Infinity Stone, a powerful artifact that can grant immense power to whoever possesses it.
The climax of the film involves the group working together to defeat Ronan and prevent him from using the stone to destroy the planet Xandar. In the end, the group decides to stay together and become the Guardians of the Galaxy, protecting the galaxy from threats and injustices.
