Nina, a successful and independent pilot, is looking forward to a relaxing holiday season with her family in Cleveland. But when a winter storm hits and her flight is grounded, she finds herself stranded at the airport along with fellow pilot Brady, a charming but arrogant womanizer.
After unsuccessfully trying to book a hotel room, Nina is forced to call her parents for help. Her father, who is recovering from a recent heart attack, insists that they stay at their home nearby. Although wary of having a colleague in her personal space, Nina relents and agrees to let Brady stay with her.
When they arrive at Nina's childhood home, they discover that her entire family is in town for a tree trimming party that evening. To make matters worse, Nina's ex-boyfriend is also attending. Anxious to avoid an awkward encounter, Nina confides in Brady and asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend for the night.
Brady eagerly agrees, relishing the chance to spend more time with Nina. As the night goes on, their fake relationship becomes more and more convincing, and they both begin to have feelings for each other.
However, when Nina gets an unexpected call that she has to leave for a flight early the next morning, she finds herself torn between her career and her newfound feelings for Brady. In the end, it's up to them to decide if they're ready to take a chance on love and risk getting grounded for Christmas.
