Ground Control is a 1998 American disaster-thriller film directed by Richard Howard and starring Kiefer Sutherland, Bruce McGill, and Robert Sean Leonard. The film follows Jack Harris (Sutherland), an air-traffic controller who quits his job after a plane crash that he feels responsible for. Years later, he is living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and working as a radio host when he learns that his former colleagues at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are facing a life-threatening storm.

Despite his initial reluctance, Harris decides to return to LAX to help his old friend and colleague, T.C. Bryant (McGill), who is now the chief controller. As Harris arrives at the airport, he is faced with the daunting task of trying to land a commuter plane that has lost contact with the tower due to the storm. With the help of his expertise and experience, he manages to guide the plane to a safe landing.

As the storm intensifies, Harris and his team face a series of challenges including a rogue Learjet, a fire in the control tower, and a massive blackout of the airport's power. Harris is also faced with his past mistakes when he discovers that the pilot of the crashed plane, who survived the accident, is on one of the incoming flights.

In the end, Harris manages to save the airport and rescue the passengers, including the pilot of the crashed plane. The film ends with Harris making amends with his past and finding a new purpose in his life.
