Grizzly is a 1976 horror film directed by William Girdler. The movie follows the story of an eighteen-foot grizzly bear, which has gone rogue in a national park in Colorado and has started attacking humans. The park ranger, Michael Kelly, played by Christopher George, is tasked with hunting down the bear and preventing any further attacks.
Initially, Kelly and his team try to capture the bear alive, but soon they realize that the bear is too dangerous and must be destroyed to protect the public. However, their efforts are thwarted by a group of hunters, who are more interested in getting drunk and hunting other animals than helping the rangers.
As the tension between the two groups grows, the bear goes on a killing spree, attacking campers and hunters alike. Kelly and his team must work together to stop the bear before it's too late.
Grizzly was a low-budget film that became a surprise hit, grossing over $39 million at the box office. It was noted for its special effects, which were considered impressive for the time and helped to make the bear seem menacing and terrifying. The movie was also criticized for its gratuitous violence and for being exploitative of the real-life dangers of grizzly bears. Nonetheless, it remains a cult classic and a classic example of the "nature strikes back" subgenre of horror films.
