In Grease 2, Michael Carrington is portrayed as a straight-A student from England who is sent to Rydell High School in the United States as an exchange student. Despite his intelligence and accent, he struggles to fit in among the social hierarchy of the school. He becomes immediately infatuated with Stephanie Zinone, the leader of the Pink Ladies, who is similarly uninterested in him.

Michael decides to try and impress Stephanie by joining the T-Birds, the male counterpart to the Pink Ladies, and adopting a tough-guy persona. The leader of the T-Birds, Johnny Nogerelli, sees through Michael's act and takes him under his wing as a protégé. The two eventually form a friendship, with Johnny helping Michael learn how to ride a motorcycle and fit in with the T-Birds.

Meanwhile, Stephanie begins to tire of her relationship with Johnny, feeling unfulfilled and unexcited. She starts to take notice of Michael's intelligence and kind heartedness, and the two begin to grow closer. They bond during a talent show, where they perform a song and dance together that steals the show.

However, their romance is complicated by the arrival of an Australian exchange student named Leo Balmudo, who challenges Johnny for leadership of the T-Birds. The two gangs engage in a rival motorcycle race to decide their leader, with Michael and Stephanie caught in the middle.

In the end, Michael and Stephanie end up together, thanks to Michael's bravery and quick thinking during the motorcycle race. The two find common ground and are able to overcome the social divide between them. Despite its lack of commercial success compared to the first Grease movie, Grease 2 has gained a cult following over the years and is known for its catchy songs and entertaining performances.
