In the movie Gravity, Dr. Ryan Stone is a medical engineer who is on her first mission to space alongside veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky, who is on his final mission before retiring. During a routine spacewalk, they are hit by debris from a destroyed satellite, leading to a chain reaction of destruction that causes their shuttle to break apart.
Stone and Kowalsky become untethered from the shuttle and are left stranded in space with no communications to Earth. They must rely on each other to survive as their oxygen supply dwindles and they are faced with numerous obstacles, including traveling through a field of space debris and maneuvering through a Russian space station.
Throughout their struggles, Stone must confront her own past traumas and find the strength to continue fighting for survival. The film received critical acclaim for its stunning visual effects and the intense performance by Sandra Bullock as Dr. Ryan Stone.
