The movie Grace of My Heart takes place in the 1960s and 1970s, following Denise Waverly (played by Illeana Douglas) as she navigates the music industry as a songwriter. Denise is a talented singer and songwriter herself, but her big break comes when she writes a hit song for a popular girl group.

Despite the success of her songwriting, Denise's own singing career is derailed by a bad marriage to a controlling producer (played by Matt Dillon). She leaves him and begins working with a new label, where she meets Howard Cazsatt (played by Eric Stoltz), an aspiring songwriter. The two fall in love, and their collaboration leads to some of Denise's biggest hits.

Throughout the movie, Denise faces sexism and rejection from the male-dominated music industry, but she perseveres and continues to write songs that launch the careers of other singers. As the music industry evolves and moves into the 1970s, Denise finds new inspiration and records her own hit album.

The movie features a talented cast of actors portraying fictionalized versions of real-life music legends, including Elvis Presley, Brian Wilson, and Carole King. The soundtrack also includes original songs written by Burt Bacharach, Elvis Costello, and others.

Overall, Grace of My Heart is a heartfelt tribute to the women behind the scenes of the music industry who often go unrecognized and underappreciated.
