GoodFellas is a 1990 American crime film directed by Martin Scorsese, based on the non-fiction book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi. The movie depicts the rise and fall of Henry Hill (played by Ray Liotta), a mobster who becomes involved in organized crime at a young age.

Henry is mentored by Jimmy Conway (played by Robert De Niro), an experienced criminal who teaches him the ins and outs of the Mafia. Henry quickly proves his worth and rises through the ranks, but he also becomes addicted to the lifestyle, including drugs and violence.

As Henry becomes more involved with the Mafia, he becomes increasingly paranoid and fearful of getting caught. Eventually, he agrees to turn state's witness and testify against his former associates, leading to their arrests and his own entry into the witness protection program.

The film has been praised for its realistic portrayal of organized crime, its use of music and editing, and its ensemble cast, which also includes Joe Pesci as Tommy DeVito, a violent mobster who becomes one of Henry's closest friends. GoodFellas was a critical and commercial success, earning six Academy Award nominations and winning one for Best Supporting Actor (Pesci). It is considered one of the greatest films ever made and a masterpiece of American cinema.
