Goodbye World is a 2013 drama film directed by Denis Henry Hennelly. Set in the aftermath of a catastrophic cyber-attack that has shut down all global communications, the film follows a group of old friends who reunite at a remote country cabin to wait out the crisis.
The group includes James (Adrian Grenier) and Lily (Kerry Bishé), a married couple with a young daughter; Nick (Ben McKenzie), their former college roommate; Laura (Gaby Hoffmann), Nick's eco-warrior girlfriend; Benji (Mark Webber), a computer hacker; Becky (Caroline Dhavernas), a doctor; and Lev (Scott Mescudi), a musician.
As the situation outside grows increasingly dire, tensions rise within the group as old resentments and unspoken feelings come to the surface. James, who has become disillusioned with modern technology and society, clashes with Nick, who still believes in the potential for progress and innovation. Laura's extreme beliefs cause rifts between her and the others, while Lev struggles with the pressure of performing and the fear of losing the audience he's found online.
As the days pass, the group must confront the reality of their situation and contemplate their uncertain future. They come to realize that their shared past can both hinder and help them in their efforts to survive and rebuild a new world. In the end, they must make difficult choices and face the consequences of their actions in a world that has been forever changed.
