Wesley Deeds (played by Tyler Perry) is a successful businessman who lives his life in accordance with his father's expectations. He is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Natalie, and preparing to take over the family business from his father. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Lindsey, a struggling single mother who works as a cleaner in his office building. As they spend more time together, Wesley begins to question his life and his choices. He helps Lindsey and her daughter financially and emotionally, and their relationship creates tension with Natalie. Eventually, Wesley must make a decision between his scripted life and the new path that Lindsey has opened up for him.
