Gone with the Wind is a 1939 American historical drama film adapted from Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer-winning novel of the same name. The film follows the story of Scarlett O'Hara (played by Vivien Leigh), a beautiful and headstrong young woman who lives on a plantation in Georgia before and during the Civil War.

At the beginning of the film, Scarlett is a spoiled young woman who is more concerned with her own social status and finding a husband than the unrest that is brewing around her. However, when the war breaks out and the Union army begins marching through Georgia, Scarlett's life is quickly turned upside down. Her family's plantation is destroyed, and she is forced to flee with the other Southern refugees.

Throughout the film, Scarlett struggles to adapt to her new circumstances and is forced to use her intelligence and resourcefulness to survive in a world where the usual rules no longer apply. She becomes involved with Rhett Butler (played by Clark Gable), a roguish and charismatic soldier who is initially attracted to Scarlett's fire and spirit.

As the war continues, Scarlett's situation becomes increasingly desperate, and she is forced to make a number of difficult choices in order to survive and provide for her family. Ultimately, she learns the value of hard work, resilience, and sacrifice, and comes to understand the true nature of love and loyalty.
