Gone Fishin' is a 1997 comedy film directed by Christopher Cain, starring Joe Pesci and Danny Glover as two best friends and fishing enthusiasts, Joe Waters and Gus Green. The two decide to go on a fishing trip together in the Florida Everglades before Gus' daughter's wedding. However, their trip takes a turn for the worse when their fishing boat gets stolen by two con artists, Dekker and Detweiler, who mistake it for their own identical boat.
Joe and Gus are left stranded in the middle of the Everglades with no boat and no supplies. They are forced to find their way back to civilization, encountering various obstacles and mishaps along the way, such as getting attacked by an alligator, getting lost in the swamp, and being mistaken for drug dealers by the local authorities.
Meanwhile, Dekker and Detweiler are using Joe and Gus' boat to smuggle stolen diamonds to Cuba. However, their plan soon goes awry, and they find themselves pursued by both the police and a group of Cuban smugglers. Eventually, Joe and Gus catch up to them, leading to a chaotic confrontation between all parties involved.
In the end, Joe and Gus successfully save the day and retrieve their stolen boat, while also managing to catch some fish. The film ends with them attending Gus' daughter's wedding, where they have a newfound appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
