Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela is a 2013 Indian romantic drama film directed and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is an adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and is set in a Gujarati village.
The story revolves around Ram (played by Ranveer Singh), a charming and charismatic young man from the Rajadi clan, and Leela (played by Deepika Padukone), a fiery and rebellious young woman from the Sanera clan. Despite being from rival clans, Ram and Leela fall in love at first sight and begin a passionate romance.
However, their love is met with opposition from their respective families, who are sworn enemies and have been engaged in a long-standing feud. The feud is aggravated by the current head of the Rajadis, Ram's older brother, who is determined to wipe out the Saneras and become the sole ruler of the village.
Amidst this turmoil, Ram and Leela must find a way to be together despite the odds. They run away and live together in a secluded cave, but their happiness is short-lived as their families eventually track them down. In a dramatic finale, Ram and Leela, realizing that the only way to end the bloodshed is to sacrifice their own lives, choose to die in each other's arms.
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela was praised for its exceptional performances and stunning visuals. The film's soundtrack was also a hit, featuring songs such as "Ram Chahe Leela" and "Nagada Sang Dhol", which became instant favorites among audiences. The film was a commercial success, earning over Rs. 2.2 billion worldwide.
